Our History
Orlando Bayter founded Ormuco in 2008. In Ormuco’s early years, Orlando worked extensively with video game companies to address the structural limitations of cloud computing. By designing computing solutions for high-throughput and low-latency applications—years before the term mobile edge computing (MEC) was invented—Orlando realized the need for innovation in computing and operating systems.
Orlando spearheaded Ormuco’s development of the first operating system that runs on nearby spare compute to deliver unlimited computing resources to any user device, and a virtual user interface that can run any application. With Ormuco, developers can bring to market new types of applications that were previously unable to run in the cloud or on users’ devices.

Did you know?
The name “Ormuco“ derives from three aboriginal Canadian language words with the meanings “communications”, “gold”, and “prosperity”. Orlando discovered these words at the Canadian Museum of History and invented the name Ormuco (pronounced “or-MOO-koe”).
